Gliffaes Country House Hotel
'A Stunning Welsh Hideaway' - The Sunday Times
The chances are you have landed on this site as you are looking for a small Country House hotel in a stunning location in the Brecon Beacons National Park near Crickhowell, which offers good food and service with neither exorbitant prices nor a lot of pretension; you may well have found what you are looking for.
We have space, lots of fresh air, no main roads, a large river, huge awe inspirng trees, owls and otters and a huge dollop of good food and good service. In short a very unspoilt & hidden corner of Wales waiting for you to discover.

Gliffaes has twenty three individual rooms all with private bathrooms and all very attractively decorated, our best rooms have truly splendid views of the river Usk.
Downstairs you will find large public rooms with open fires to curl up in front of in the winter, a bright conservatory and big sunny terrace for a long lunch with a chilled white wine.

Food and drink is another key part of the equation when you are looking for a few days away. Gliffaes takes pride in sourcing as much local produce as we can. Meat, game and cheese abound in Wales and our beef and lamb is always excellent. During the summer some salads and herbs come from the hotel's garden.
The hotel has a wine list with some 90 wines from around the world, add to this local Welsh beer and Herefordshire cider and you should have something for everyone.

Fishing at Gliffaes
If wild brown trout fishing is your idea of heaven then come to Gliffaes to indulgage your passion. We have 2.5 miles of fishing on the river Usk - all wild and no stocked fish.
We can arrange a ghillie and we are running two beginers fly fishing courses in the summer of 2008. Details on our website, where you will also find catch records going back to 2000.

Gliffaes & The Environment
Living and working in such a wonderful corner of the world we are trying to lessen our impact on the environment.
Most of our packaging is re-cycled and we are the only food business in Wales that composts ALL our food waste in an accelerated composter and the compost goes back on the garden. The hotel's attaic has been insulated with sheeps wool and to encourage guests to explore the National Park without a car we have a tandem for guests to use. When the sun comes out the hotel linen is dried on a 30 metre washing line.
Our efforts have been rewarded with the Green Dragon Enviromental Award.
