Glasbury House Outdoor Education Centre

A modern conversion of a 19th century coach house

The Bunkhouse is a converted coach house, originally built in the 19th century in the grounds of the Georgian Manor Glasbury House, which is now owned by the London Borough of Redbridge and run as an Outdoor Education Centre.

Meals can be provided by our permanent catering staff and a range of activity days can be booked with our qualified instructors.

The ground floor has a new well-equipped kitchen, a dining room/classroom/lounge, a drying room, a small staff room and two modern shower and toilet areas. There are five first floor bedrooms offering bunk beds for 12, 8, 6, 2 and 2 (with another shower room and 2 more toilets). There is also a campsite adjacent to the Bunkhouse so that larger numbers can be accommodated. Each group would have exclusive use for the duration of their stay.

We have qualified instructors on site so activity days can be individually designed to suit groups of all ages and abilities. The range of activities offered includes canoeing, kayaking, caving, rock climbing and abseiling, gorge scrambling, mountain walking, orienteering and mountain biking. Private transport to and from activity venues and all specialist equipment is included in the cost.

This is also an ideal base for GCSE and A Level examination courses. Environmental studies and field study courses can also be arranged utilising the wealth of natural resources in the area.

There is ample car parking space next to the Bunkhouse and BBQs and picnic tables are provided for use in fine weather.

Sorry, no pets.
