Situated in the midst of Monmouthshires' rolling countryside, within 5 miles of the Black Mountains (Brecon Beacons National Park), 12 miles from the market town of Abergavenny and the cathedral city of Hereford.

It is an excellent base for walking, cycling, and pony trekking. For the golfer there are a number of excellent golf courses within easy reach, for example Celtic Manor is only 30-40 minutes drive.

The area is full of history with a number of castle ruins (Grosmont, Skenfrith, White Castle, and Raglan) and medieval churches (Abbey Dore, Kilpeck). Local shops and pubs are about 2 miles away, with the excellent Bridge Inn, Kentchurch approximately 2.5 miles.
