The Brecon Beacons National Park

Brecon Beacons National Park one of Britains breathing spaces

Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery

The ‘Ironmaster’ William Crawshay commissioned Cyfarthfa Castle in 1824. This grand castellated mansion overlooked his immensely successful ironworks and has been called ‘the most impressive monument of the Industrial Iron Age in South Wales’.

Today, the museum houses extensive fine and decorative art collections and atmospheric social and industrial history galleries. All set in beautiful parkland on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The castle tearoom offers wholesome home cooking and a warm welcome. A delightful courtyard seating area allows visitors to soak up the sun in the summer months.

The Park surrounding the museum is open from 7am until dusk and offers woodland walks, an adventure playground, and a model steam railway.

Free Admission. Ample Parking. Shop. Tearoom. Disabled access with doorbell via side doorway. Toilets. Group bookings accepted. Guided tours ‘by appointment’.
