A Sunday outing on the Beacons Bus

A car free day out discovering the National Park!

Beacons Bus is ideal for a car-free day out in the Brecon Beacons National Park on Summer Sundays and Bank Holidays from late May to early October. The various buses leave Brecon Interchange at 11am on a Sunday or bank holiday.

If you are travelling from outside Brecon buses run from major surrounding towns and cities to bring you into Brecon in the morning, arriving at around 11am. You can then choose from a number of routes to visit different areas in the Park, or spend the day in Brecon and then catch your bus back home at 5.30pm.

How to get to Brecon & how to get back home!

These are the buses you need to get you to Brecon
and you’ll arrive just before 11am in the morning.
B1 Cardiff – Merthyr Tydfil – Brecon (This is known as the Bike Bus and is fitted with a special bike trailer).

B2 Porthcawl – Bridgend – Pontypridd – Aberdare – Brecon
B3 Bridgend – Treorci – Brecon
B4 Blackwood – Newport – Cwmbran – Abergavenny - Brecon
B5 Cardiff – Caerphilly – Nelson – Merthyr Tydfil - Brecon
B6 Swansea – Neath – Ystradgynlais - Brecon
B10 Carmarthen – Llandeilo – Llandovery – Brecon
39A Hereford – Hay on Wye – Brecon

At the end of the day the buses follow the same routes back home, leaving Brecon Bus Interchange at 5.30pm.

What to do when you get to Brecon

Once you’ve arrived at the bus interchange in Brecon in the morning, you can either:
1) Catch a different bus to another destination in the
Park, see the details of the routes on the following
pages for ideas of things to do, or
2) Stay in Brecon and visit some of the town’s attractions

Well behaved, clean dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. The driver has the ultimate discretion over the carriage of dogs.
