Saturday 5 September
Brecon Beacons Challenge – Fundraising Event
A 3 peak fundraising challenge for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). An opportunity to complete 3 peaks in one day whilst raising life-saving funds to beat heart disease in the UK.

Saturday 5 September: 10:00-16:00
The Sugar Loaf Summit and Ancient Oaks – Guided Walk
A circular walk taking in the summit of the Sugar Loaf via St. Mary’s Vale and Mynydd Pen-y-fal, returning through the ancient oaks of Deri Wood. Bring packed lunch.
Length, Grade & Ascent: 11m / 17km, Energetic, 500m.
Meet: Abergavenny TIC (car park charges apply). Accessible by bus & train.

Up the Allt – Guided Walk
A walk up through woodland looking at the National Parks’ work on the public rights of way to the top of the Allt, once used by Iron Age settlers and Roman onwards, for one of the best viewpoints in the National Park, followed by an opportunity to lunch by Llangors Lake. Bring a packed lunch if you would like to do this! Please come suitably equipped for variable weather conditions.

A town walk, visiting sites of distinction, discovering Brecon’s fascinating past and residents of renown. No dogs please.

Photo Friendly Wonderful Waterfalls
Special Interest Guided Walk
Have you been on a walk with friends, family or in groups where you have carried your camera all day and not taken a single shot? Wish you had more time to take some photos along the way without holding up the group? Well this walk is for you.

Please note that this is not a photography course, but a walk where you have time to stop and take photos along the way. More experienced participants are encouraged to share ideas along the route so others can benefit and take away some rewarding images. The walk is open to all ages and levels of experience, whether it is the first time you have taken a camera out, whether you are an amateur, enthusiast or a pro. Participants can use any camera they wish whether it be digital or film, a point and shoot compact or SLR. Booking essential as spaces are limited. Please come suitably equipped for variable weather conditions.

Canal, Tramroad & Punch Bowl Walk – Guided Walk
Find out about the fascinating history of the area on this low level circular walk around the Blorenge using paths, canal towpaths and disused tramways and railway lines. Bring packed lunch. Please come suitably equipped for variable weather conditions.

A Beacons Circuit – Guided Walk
Take in all the ‘high points’ of the Beacons on this walk over the tops of Corn Du and Pen y Fan, taking in the Tommy Jones Obelisk, the Upper Neuadd Reservoir and Craig Fan Ddu and learn a little about the glacial formations and local history along the way. Bring packed lunch. Please come suitably equipped for variable weather conditions.

Talybont’s Industrial Heritage – Guided Walk
Use Towpaths and Tramroads to take in stunning views of the Talybont and Usk Valleys whilst learning about this area’s rich industrial heritage. Bring packed lunch. Please come suitably equipped for variable weather conditions.

Stargazing – Family Event
Cardiff Astronomical Society is hosting a night of stargazing at the National Park Visitor Centre. The event will run whatever the weather- if visibility is poor, there will be slideshows and demonstrations inside. These events form part of the International Year of Astronomy celebrations. Cost £4.00 adults, £2.50 U16s/concessions, £12 family (up to 2 adults and 3 U16). Price includes parking, soup and a roll. Booking essential.

Autumn Colours and Fragrances
Come and enjoy four days of superb walking in the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons with experienced leaders. Return from your walk to traditional Welsh cooked food in the cosy and friendly atmosphere of YHA Danywenallt - a charmingly converted Welsh farm house, nestling below the Talybont Reservoir and surrounded by wooded slopes, high peaks, waterfalls and trails. Crafty Christmas Crackers – Children’s Activities
Make your own Christmas crackers with recycled materials. Lots of fun and may be quite messy, so old clothes recommended! Bring a small toy or sweet to put inside your cracker. Suitable for 5-12 yr olds. Under 7s must bring an adult with them. Cost: £4.00 per child. Booking essential. No dogs please.
