NIA - NEUROMUSCULAR INTEGRATIVE ACTION
Tutor: Sam Hyde
Black Belt Nia Teacher Sam Hyde is excited to be at The Hill this year to present some inspirational Nia Days. Come along to be energised by this movement and lifestyle practice that will show you how to live in your body the healthy way, choosing love and pleasure over pain and live life as art. Nia (neuromuscular integrative action) is a workout that sparks personal growth by the specific integration of your Body, Mind, Emotions and Spirit. Nia will bring you into your body, using dance arts for expression, martial arts for precision and healing arts for you to self-heal, to realign, improve your posture and your functioning. Everyone is welcome to join us and experience the Joy of Movement in this Nia Day.Suitable for beginners.

A weekend retreat to chill-out, restore and refresh. Suitable for all ages and abilities. We will be exploring Asana (Posture) Pranayama (breath control) and meditation, plus much more. Join Audrey Blow and Clare Chard (both qualified tutors with the British Wheel of Yoga) who will encourage you to "Wake up to the joy in your life"

ARABIC BELLY DANCING DAY
Tutor: Rachel Jones
Spend a day enjoying Middle Eastern Dance. Come and be inspired by this ancient, elegant art form. Whatever you age, size or level of fitness, middle eastern "belly" dancing provides an elegant empowering form of exercise and self expression. The day will consist of workshops in which technique will be taught, including use of veils and stick technique. We will also learn a choreography. There will also be a short performance from the tutor. Wear comfortable clothes - loose full skirt or baggy trousers and a scarf to tie around the hips. Bring a sarong or a 1.5m length of material to be a veil. Please also bring a stick if you have one (approx 1" diameter thin walking stick size). We usually dance barefoot or in flat shoes. The course is suitable for beginners and more experienced students who wish to develop their techniques and work with props.

BABY MASSAGE

Did you know that babies who receive regular massage fall asleep faster and remain more alert when awake? Touch is a babys most developed sense and is a wonderful way to express your affection. Most parents instinctively stroke their newborns, to welcome and soothe them baby massage is a natural progression of this first contact, and research indicates that it is beneficial to health and development, both emotional and physical. Baby massage can evolve from first cuddles and is a real treat for parents and baby, allowing quality time together. It can be particularly beneficial to mothers with post-natal depression or fathers feeling helpless or left out; baby massage is a positive way to bond with their babies.Massage calms both parent and baby and nurtures confidence, which helps cope with the stresses of parenthood it also improves parents communication with their baby. Baby massage can help with many minor ailments, including soothing colic; relaxing and encouraging sleep; and assisting the treatment of skin conditions. Regular massage will help you learn your babys likes and dislikes through body language, and enable your baby to become more supple, calmer, more responsive and sociable. The benefits are for both baby, parents and grandparents, so join now and learn an ancient and successful technique!

Assertiveness ASSERTIVENESS - CHANGING YOUR APPROACH TO LIFE

Do you feel that life is passing you by because you cant seem to assert yourself when you need to? This informal and supportive weekend course will help you to identify where you feel you need to strengthen your personal approach to life and encourage you towards a brighter and more positive future. Over the weekend we will cover the basic skills of saying no and handling criticism, as well as considering the benefits of successful communication and managing negative emotions.

YOGA & YOUR BACK
Tutor: Ruth Morris
More than 80% of the population will suffer from back pain at sometime in their life. Yoga is not a cure but a useful tool to help us deal with back problems. Specific postures, breathing and meditation will help ease pain and keep blood and oxygen flowing to the muscles. Ruth Morris is a local teacher and came to yoga with a chronic back condition, having been in a spinal support for some years. With a back problem you feel you are moving with the brakes on, yoga will help to take the brakes off.
