From Fleece to Fabric
The NATIONAL WOOLLEN MUSEUM is delighted to be present at the Llandovery Sheep Festival. The Museum’s quest is to show the journey from fleece to fabric and our stand at the Sheep Festival will feature activities and products that help illustrate this story.
Mae’n bleser gan Amgueddfa Wlân Cymru i fod yn rhan o Wyl Ddefaid Llanymddyfri. Prif bwrpas yr Amgueddfa yw i ddangos y daith o’r ddafad i ddefnydd ac mi fydd ein stondin yn yr Wyl Ddefaid yn cynnwys gweithgareddau a chynnyrch sy’n helpu i ddarlunio’r stori hon.
In the Children’s Activities section there will be an opportunity to have a go at braiding, weaving with lollipop sticks, paper weaving sheep and much more. There’ll also be a section featuring activities that show the amazing properties of wool.
Mi fydd yr Adran Blant yn cynnwys gweithgareddau amrywiol fel plethu, gwau gyda ffyn lolipop a gwau defaid papur, a llawer mwy. Mi fydd adran pellach yn cynnwys gweithgareddau sy’n dangos rhai o gyneddfau anhygoel gwlân.
In addition, we’ll feature goods and products that show just how versatile, practical and beautiful wool can be.
Yn ogystal, mi fyddwn yn cynnwys cynnyrch a deunyddiau sy’n dangos pa mor amlbwrpas, ymarfeol a hardd mae gwlân yn medru bod.
The National Wool Museum’s home is in the old Cambrian Mills, Drefach Felindre in the Teifi Valley, once the centre of a thriving Welsh woollen industry. The Museum tells the story of an industry that produced woollen stockings, shirts and shawls, blankets and bedcovers. It was an industry that clothed the workers of Wales and which exported around the world. Here at the Museum you can see working textile machinery and discover what it was like to work in the woollen industry.
Cartref yr Amgueddfa Wlân Genedlaethol yw hen Ffatri Cambrian yn Nyffryn Teifi a oedd ar un adeg yn ganolbwynt i ddiwydiant gwlân llewyrchus Cymru. Mae’r Amgueddfa yn adrodd hanes diwydiant oedd yn cynhyrchu crysau, siolau, blancedi, carthenni a sanau gwlân ac a oedd yn cyflenwi dillad i weithwyr ar draws Cymru, ac a oedd hefyd yn cael eu hallforio ar draws y byd. Yn yr Amgueddfa cewch weld peiriannau trin brethyn ar waith a gallwch ddysgu sut yr oedd hi i weithio yn y diwydiant gwlân.
The Museum is also home to a commercial working mill, one of the last flannel makers in Wales.
Mae yna felin fasnachol yn yr Amgueddfa hefyd, un o’r gwneuthurwyr brethyn olaf yng Nghymru.
