Hay Area
Hay on Wye - town of books is at the foot of the Black Mountains on the banks of the River Wye in the far east of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Richard Booth, self proclaimed King of Hay & owner of Hay castle opened his first second hand bookshop in 1961 and pursued his dream to create the largest second hand and antiguarian book selling centre in the world. The town now has over 30 bookshops but also a charming variety of galleries, antique shops & independantly owned boutiques and special interst shops.

The Wye Valley Walk & The Offa's Dyke path cross at Hay and there is fabulous walking in all directions from the town.
