Talybont & the Usk Valley
The pretty village of Talybont has The River Usk and the Brecon and Monmouth canal running through it and the Talybont Reservoir close-by. It is an area of great natural beauty which offers the visitor way-marked walks, cycle trails including the Taff Trail which provides peaceful cycling with spectacular views, bird watching, fishing, boating and canoeing.
The footpaths from the village offer gateways onto superb high level routes across the Brecon Beacon hills and mountains. The main route out of the village is the Brinore Tramroad, which runs for 8 miles (13 km). Built and operational from 1815 there are historical remains of its historical past including limekilns and the tramroad remains themselves. Its route passes through the dramatic and scenic valleys of Talybont and Dyffryn Crawnon before reaching the uplands of Trefil mountain.
