Helen Absalom

Helen's work takes a new perspective on classic botanical themes and still life in both large and small format canvases. She paints vibrant coloured images in oils which are well received as impactful and decorative pieces.

Helen gained a BA(hons) Degree in Graphic Design at Derby University. Much of her work is influenced by her training in Graphic Design as she loves bold colours and working exploring the possibilities that oil paints have to offer. The organic qualities of flowers and leaves challenge her to capture their ephemeral nature as the seasons change.

Working from photographs throughout the year, Helen captures the blooms at the best possible moment either in bud, in full flower or in Autumn as leaves fall to the floor.

The contrast of the background used hints at the seasonal changes using dark greens in lush Summer meadows and briliant white for the freshly fallen snow.

Helen's work is regularly exibited in galleries in Monmouthshire and the Brecon Beacons. In addition to her wide portfolio she often works to commission.

Clients may have a particular image which they may like faithfully reproduced as a gift or stunning decorative focal point for their home.

Floral images make perfect Christening gifts and Helen is often asked to create wedding gifts representing the month of the marriage or relevant birthdays.

Helen's commisions are priced as unframed stretched canvasses but framing can be arranged according to the customer's taste and decor.
